A tractor bucket smashes the window of a bus full of workers: a near-trail tragedy on the Decimomannu-Villasor highway.

A tragedy was narrowly avoided yesterday morning on the Decimomannu-Villasor motorway, where an ARST bus was hit and ripped apart by the bucket of a tractor .
Bus 215, operating on the Macchiareddu-Guspini route and always packed with workers, was struck from the side by the dump truck of an agricultural vehicle entering the roadway from a side street . The impact was extremely violent, shattering the window of the vehicle carrying numerous passengers, most of them workers returning from night shifts at the Macchiareddu and Saras factories .
The images are shocking; only chance and the driver's quick thinking prevented much more serious consequences.
"The vehicle," recounts UIL Trasporti regional secretary Nicola Contini, "was ripped to pieces at eye level by the bucket . The images are horrifying; even the slightest deviation from the trajectory would have been enough to call it a tragedy. Miraculously, there were no injuries, the only positive aspect of an extremely worrying incident, which reiterates the need to systematically address the risk factors associated with road interference on extra-urban routes."
A night of work and a return home relying on public transport: a morning that could have ended in tragedy for dozens of workers: "Intervention is necessary to ensure the safety of workers and passengers. The accident confirms the dangers of narrow road sections ," the union emphasizes, underlining the dangers of "forced coexistence between public transport and heavy or agricultural vehicles on roads that are often too narrow, lack adequate hard shoulders, and are not sufficiently monitored."
UilTrasporti is calling for an immediate investigation into the accident, increased monitoring to ensure compliance with the Highway Code on heavily agricultural and industrial roads, and the widening or securing of the most critical sections of the Decimomannu-Villasor highway, used daily by workers and students.
