Porto Torres, scooter on fire in abandoned municipal swimming pool

A scooter caught fire inside the municipal swimming pool, the unfinished one that, in the Oleandro district of Porto Torres, has long been in a state of degradation and neglect. The flames destroyed some materials and waste stored in the abandoned structure, which has become a breeding ground for rats and insects.

The firefighters of the local detachment intervened on site and promptly put out the fire, which had become risky due to the critical condition of the walls of the building. A red brick structure that was never completed and surrounded by an expanse of weeds that invade the building up to the sidewalks, posing dangers to motorists who pass through.

Around a situation of absolute degradation in the vicinity of the houses, a condition that residents have been complaining about for years, without any maintenance intervention of the greenery and with the risk that some walls may collapse over time.

The unattended swimming pool has become a meeting place for gangs of kids, perpetrators of the vandalism : they lit the fire burning the vehicle, without license plates, probably abandoned for some time. Also on site are the Carabinieri of the Porto Torres company who are investigating the incident.
