The clues had appeared useful right away, since the road signs uprooted from some streets in the city of Porto Torres were found, where they had been positioned. Now the vandals have a face and a precise identification . In recent weeks, the Judicial Police and Video Surveillance Unit of the Porto Torres Local Police has launched an important investigative activity useful for tracing the perpetrators of the various episodes of vandalism recorded in the recent period to the detriment of road signs located in the town of Porto Torres.

The action of the specialized unit of the local police was immediately concentrated on the accurate and in-depth examination of what was contained in the recording system of the video surveillance system owned by the same municipality, with the important aid and use of private video cameras installed in commercial activities . Specifically, the activity of the men of the Local Police immediately concentrated on the devices located in the stretches of road affected by the unfortunate events: by crossing and superimposing the data it was possible to reconstruct the dynamics of the episodes with absolute precision, even going back to the perpetrators of one of the damages that occurred in recent weeks near via Principe Di Piemonte and via Lungomare Balai.

Once again, the constant collaboration with the local Carabinieri company was fundamental for the investigation, particularly busy in the late evening slots, when most of the episodes are recorded. On the basis of the investigations developed in the following days by the agents of the Local Police, it emerged that the perpetrators of the crime would be three young people: two of them (one of which a minor) residing in Porto Torres and one residing in Stintino, who allegedly acted with only intent on tearing down the signage .

But precisely the circumstance that there were some electronic eyes in those places as well as the intervention immediately following by a Carabinieri patrol made it possible to reconstruct the facts and subsequently identify the perpetrators. All three have been referred to the Judicial Authority , on the basis of the investigations carried out they will have to answer for the crime of aggravated damage in competition . Nonetheless, it is the Administration's intention to make a claim for compensation to meet the costs incurred for the maintenance and restoration of the cartels.

"We thank the Carabinieri and the local police for their commitment and tenacity in this investigation: these are acts of vandalism that have aroused a lot of indignation in the city", said the mayor Massimo Mulas and the municipal councilor, Gian Simona Tortu . «This result was possible above all thanks to the analysis of the surveillance cameras present in the area. But we are also grateful to the citizens who have offered collaboration, in the belief that everyone's commitment is necessary to defeat these dynamics : the forces of law and order, the municipal administration and the Turritan community as a whole. Let's isolate the vandals and make sure that Porto Torres always presents itself with its best appearance, especially now that events such as Easter Monday and the Festha Manna are approaching, which will bring thousands of people to the city".
