The Journey of the Olympic Flame also passes through Porto Torres in view of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games. On Saturday 13 December, in fact, the city of Porto Torres will host the famous relay that will cross the whole of Italy to mark the arrival of the games in our country and to bring the values of Olympism everywhere: friendship, respect, excellence and inclusion. The decision was formalized by the Municipal Council which, in recent days, approved the draft agreement with the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, responsible for organizing the XXV Olympic Winter Games, scheduled from 6 to 22 February 2026. The Paralympic Games will then take place from 6 to 15 March. According to the agreement, the Municipality will grant the necessary areas free of charge, guarantee safety, regulate traffic, provide logistical support and support the dissemination of Olympic values in the territory. "For the city of Porto Torres - underlined the sports councilor Gavina Muzzetto - it is a great honor to welcome the Olympic Flame. This is an event of extraordinary importance, capable of uniting sport, culture and collective participation. Inserting the name of our city in the path of the Flame means linking it to a universal symbol of peace, inclusion and brotherhood. Furthermore, it is a precious opportunity to enhance and promote the beauty of our territory and its sporting vocation in the context of an event of global importance". The Flame, lit in Olympia, Greece, will reach Italy on December 6 and will cross all the Italian regions and provinces. The Journey of approximately 12 thousand kilometers will end in Milan on February 6. Over 10 thousand torchbearers will be involved who will pass the flame in relay to arrive, every evening, at the lighting of the brazier in the city of the stop. The route of the Olympic Flame, the number of torchbearers who will parade through the city and further details of the event will be updated and finalized in the coming months.
