Sparks and smoke from the old battery while charging the car. Fear in the forecourt of the Conad supermarket, in Viale delle Vigne in Porto Torres. The owner of an electric Smart while charging his car at the electric columns in the parking area, noticed a fire starting after opening the hood from which a cloud of smoke was coming out, originating from the positive terminal of the battery.

The man, a 47-year-old resident of Porto Torres, immediately alerted the local fire department. "Scared, I grabbed a screwdriver and disconnected one of the cables, knowing I was avoiding a short circuit, and that's what happened," the owner explains. "The car turned off, but I was so scared, I burst into tears and called 115," he says, "the rest of the work was done by the fire department team, prompt and professional as always.

Thanks to them I was able to save the car. They arrived with all the necessary equipment and deactivated everything." A nauseating smell around attracted the attention of passers-by. "Only when I opened the hood did I realize that the car could catch fire."
