Port Authority of Sardinia, Montaresi in pole position for presidency
Hypothesis on the succession to Massimo Deiana: she is the current commissioner in La Spezia and Carrara, the hypothesis launched by important groups in the maritime sector. The last word to SalviniPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
A week and no denial has arrived. So almost a confirmation: Federica Montaresi, current commissioner of the ports of La Spezia and Carrara, is the most popular name to take Massimo Deiana's place (expiring in July) as president of the port authority of Sardinia.
The news was launched in recent days by Secolo XIX and, at the same time, by the specialized newspaper Medi Telegraph, both owned by the Msc group - a logistics and cruise giant - headed by the Aponte family, which in turn has business relations with the Grendi group, based in the port of Cagliari. Something more than a simple indiscretion, therefore.
The final word belongs to the Minister of Transport Matteo Salvini, after “hearing” the Region: he will be the one to make the nominations. For Sardinia and for four other authorities: Northern Tyrrhenian Sea, Central Tyrrhenian Sea, Southern Tyrrhenian Sea and Ionian and Northern Adriatic Sea. These are the ones for which an expression of interest was published in December, with a deadline at the end of January. Nothing binding or aimed at drawing up a ranking: the aspiring presidents only had to send their CV and wait. But it is not a given that the position will be assigned to a member of the list.
Montaresi has received a sort of endorsement from newspapers that weigh (a lot) in the maritime sector. This is why his stock is high. And it would be a "foreign pope" to govern the ports of Sardinia. But that is not the only name that has been circulated: that of the former president of the Region, Christian Solinas, has been mentioned, as has that of Elisabetta Neroni (now at the helm of the Regional Programming Center) and Natale Ditel, who is now the general secretary at the Port Authority of Cagliari. Just name guesses, for now.
Certainly, whoever lands in the most important office overlooking the port will not find a messy situation. Massimo Deiana's mandate (the second, therefore it cannot be repeated) will end in July. In the latest budget of the institution he made it known that " the investment capacity of the Authority, which also for 2025 is in line with the average of the last 8 years (just over 100 million euros) , offers a clear sign of vitality of public spending, also recorded at the macroeconomic level". And again: "Almost 8 years after the resolution of the Management Committee of 28 November 2017 with which the first unitary budget of the newly established Port System Authority of the Sea of Sardinia was approved, the largest and most extensive port network in Italy, the national and regional economy can count on an institution that has been able to move almost 800 million euros during its first "succession" of life".
