The Promoting Committee for the birth of the Porcetto di Sardegna PGI was set up by the notary. Also official was the establishment of the scientific committee which in the first meeting in Macomer - in the headquarters of the Consorzio Tutela Tutela Agnello PGI - worked on various points of the production specifications of the specialty.

The ultimate aim is to prepare the documentation to be presented to the European Commission to obtain recognition of the PGI designation, which will lead to the creation of a Consortium that creates a union between breeders, slaughterers and processors of Sardinian excellence, which can organize the supply chain and give a valid reference to the market for everything concerning the breeding and traceability phases of piglets destined for the market. Likewise, safeguard local Sardinian production from the danger of uncontrolled imports, and therefore protect the origin of the product.

A valid tool also for consumers , who will be able to have an interlocutor who can guarantee compliance with a production specification. The promoting committee sees the transversal presence of breeders, slaughterers and processors representing the four main agricultural trade associations. Coldiretti Sardinia chairs the committee with the Cagliari president Giorgio Demurtas, the vice president is Francesca Manca of Confagricoltura. You also represent the CIA with Martino Scanu and Copagri with Raffaele Mureddu.

The committee also includes Pierluigi Mamusa for the breeding part, Luciano Nieddu and Tonino Siotto for the transformation part Francesco Forma, owner of Forma Carni di Macomer. The scientific committee includes an official from the Ministry of Agriculture, researchers from Agris Sardegna, the Zooprophylactic Institute and representatives of the Local Health Authority and Laore, as well as those of the Federation of Sardinian clubs in Italy, the Universities of Sassari and Cagliari.
