Stealing out of desperation, forced by hunger. With this push , a 24-year-old from Alghero broke into two commercial businesses in Ploaghe last Monday, stealing food and objects, and ended up in court in Sassari yesterday , after being arrested by the police, before judge Sara Pelicci for the usual trial.

The total amount stolen by the person, who lives in conditions of great hardship, came to less than 80 euros and consisted of sausage, provola, coffee and oil, as well as personal hygiene items.

For the young man, defended by the lawyer Valeria Testoni, the prosecutor Ilaria Achenza had asked for house arrest while the judge ordered the obligation to stay and sign in Sassari.
