Maxi blitz against international drug trafficking in Sardinia, the investigation started from the record seizure of five kilos of ketamine that arrived from the NetherlandsMaxi anti-drug blitz in Sardinia: the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Cagliari, with the support of the Helicopter Squadron "Cacciatori Sardegna" and an aircraft of the 11th Helicopter Nucleus, have executed seven precautionary measures (three detentions in prison and four house arrests) issued by the investigating judge of Cagliari at the end of an investigation that has brought to light an alleged criminal association active in international drug trafficking.
The operation, coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, started with the record seizure of five kilos of ketamine from the Netherlands, the largest ever carried out in Sardinia and one of the most significant at a national level .
The names of the seven arrested
There are also a taxi driver and a barmaid among the seven people arrested in the last few hours. Federico Martis , 38, from Cagliari, considered the boss, caught last year with five kilos of ketamine, ended up in prison; Massimo Meloni , 51, from Cagliari, and Francesco Corona , 41, from Sinnai. Claudio Scalas , 36, from Uta; Cristina Satta, a 37-year-old taxi driver from Cagliari, Irene Asuni , a 24-year-old barmaid from Sestu and Claudia Scameroni , 40, ended up under house arrest.
The investigations
Twelve people in total were involved in the investigation, dedicated according to investigators to the sale of narcotics aimed especially at young people and very young people frequenting nightlife venues in the provinces of Cagliari and Oristano. The twelve had divided up the roles and acted in isolated places, renting cars and using cryptic languages. The transportation and custody of the substances were apparently entrusted to apparently unsuspecting people.
The alleged leader of the group, Federico Martis, would have directly managed contacts with national and international suppliers, organized the transportation of the drugs and handled both retail and wholesale sales. The systematic approach to the procurement and distribution of drugs, supported by the collaboration of numerous accomplices, would have allowed the group to operate for several months and to emerge as a significant player in the drug market in southern Sardinia.
Precisely following the line of investigation, the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Cagliari, in the past few months, have also arrested 15 people in flagrante and seized further quantities of drugs, including 2,068 kilograms of hashish, 943 grams of marijuana, 720 grams of cocaine, 151 MDMA pills, 43 grams of 2C-B, the so-called "pink cocaine". A mix of synthetic substances intercepted for the first time in Sardinia, particularly dangerous for its psychotropic effects.
