State of alert in Paulilatino for Nile fever. Last week a horse tested positive for the virus and the Municipality awaits the results on the discovery, about ten days ago, of some birds that died along the road that connects the town to Santa Cristina.

“It is a situation that requires monitoring. It is right that citizens are informed, but without being alarmist. It is necessary to adopt prudence and follow the recommendations», explains the mayor Domenico Gallus. The mayor, upon receipt of the communication from the local health authority indicating that the circulation of the West Nile Disease virus (Nile Fever) was detected in the Municipality, in the locality of "Pabarille", signed the ordinance.

In addition to explaining in detail what it is, it indicates a series of recommendations to follow. The document also specifies that the territory is infested by the strong presence of mosquitoes responsible for the transmission of diseases. According to what is indicated in the ordinance, it is necessary to enhance information on the circulation of the virus, to intensify reclamation and environmental hygiene activities by eliminating larval outbreaks. Citizens are advised not to abandon even temporarily in public and private open spaces objects and containers in which water can accumulate and stagnate, to empty fountains and swimming pools that are not in use and to avoid any situation that could lead to the accumulation of stagnant water.

To reduce the risk of mosquito bites, especially from dusk to dawn, it is advisable to wear light-colored clothing that covers most of the body, use repellent products and stay in rooms equipped with mosquito nets.
