Sentenced for the death of Paride Meloni, who died in 2017 in the Delogu Cellars, a few km from Alghero, suffocated by fermentation gases from the must.
Yesterday the panel of the Court of Appeal of Sassari ordered Piero Delogu, owner of the business, to give a one-year suspended sentence with no mention.
Three years ago the man had been acquitted with a broad formula from the charge of manslaughter , a verdict however contested by the prosecutor Angelo Beccu who had turned to the Cassation raising some legal problems. And the Supreme Court had reformed the first sentence sending everything back to the Appeal.
According to the public prosecutor, the entrepreneur was held responsible because, in his opinion, it was a matter of high-altitude work. Meloni, 46, was the company's factotum and, at the time of the tragedy, was alone.
Nicola Lucchi, Delogu's lawyer, has already announced an appeal to the Supreme Court.
