Investigations underway to trace the culprits who, in the night between Friday and Saturday , scarred the commemorative plaque of Walter Frau , the carabiniere victim, together with his colleague Ciriaco Carrus, of the Chilivani massacre of 16 August 1995.

The soldiers of the Ozieri company have heard some witnesses and are viewing the images of the cameras located in various points of the city. The video surveillance devices would have filmed the vandals who, after having attacked the soldier's tombstone in Ped'e Semene di Chilivani, transported it from the site of the massacre five kilometers away to place it on a low wall of a sports field of Ozieri.

In the village they then went wild, leaving insulting and threatening writings on the walls against the carabinieri: sentences in approximate Italian, drawn in block letters with red spray paint in various areas, from that of Punta Idda, to Cantaro up to vicolo Roma. Written promptly deleted, explicitly addressed to the weapon.

The plate, subjected to seizure, will be used by investigators to try to trace the culprits of the serious vandalism. In recent days, the control operation of the Ozieri carabinieri had intensified, with the withdrawal of various licenses, another useful element for investigators.

"For me it was as if they had killed him again, like going back 26 years, when I went to the morgue to see my brother, who was killed in the ambush", comments Roberto Frau, brother of the carabiniere, victim of firefight with a group of bandits who were preparing to attack a security van.

“We preferred to hide the news from our mother, adds Roberto Frau - who is 86 today and would be like a fatal blow for her”.

The Frau family will act as a civil party through the lawyer Sebastiano Chironi. Many, from all over Sardinia, wanted to express words of solidarity with the family, the closeness expressed by the President of the Region and by the mayors of Ozieri and Porto Torres.
