An act of kindness and attention, towards a friend, which cost him his life. Thus died Remesha Martin Elvis King , 31, from Burundi , hit Saturday at dawn by a Ctm bus in Viale Diaz.

In the end, yesterday morning in the Reanimation of the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari, they gave up and started the worst countdown: the one to declare the young man officially dead , which happened six hours later.

THE TRAGEDY - As often happens in great tragedies, the dynamic is simple and banal: after spending the night in a club in Sant'Elia , Martin and a friend of his from Cagliari were returning home. In Viale Diaz they saw the bus arriving and started running towards the stop, but the girl dropped her glasses and ended up on the asphalt off the sidewalk. It seems that the young man bent down to pick them up, leaning from the sidewalk or perhaps going down the step (the investigation will tell), and the bus at that point hit him violently on the head.

Rescue was immediately triggered, with a carabiniere passing by at that moment ready to take up service on a patrol who did his utmost to keep the wounded man alive with three heart massages, succeeding in his intent. Then the arrival of the 118 ambulance and the desperate rush to the Brotzu , but for Martin the doctors could not do much .

THE GIFT OF THE ORGANS - In the darkness of the tragedy, the young man however shone his light once again: his mother (who had arrived in Cagliari when he was still a child, and still lives in the city) and his sister - who came from Turin , where he lives thanks to the rules on family reunification of migrants - they donated the organs of their family member.

The funeral will most likely be celebrated tomorrow morning by Don Marco Lai, director of the diocesan Caritas (with which the young man collaborated as a volunteer) and parish priest of Sant'Eulalia.

A YOUNG MAN KNOWN - Great pain in Cagliari, where the young man was well known because he worked as a waiter in the nightlife venues (at the Marina and Stampace) and for his passion for the theater : after having attended a course organized by Caritas, he had enrolled in other courses by paying dues with his salary. And he had never forgotten the help he received from Caritas when he arrived at an early age: for this reason he collaborated with the humanitarian organization of the city diocese, even now that he could support himself and pay the rent: " once one of our clients, but a precious collaborator ”, the moving words of Monsignor Lai.

THE INQUIRY - Now the local police will have to update the information to be sent to the Public Prosecutor's Office, at the end of the tragic accident that cost the thirty-one-year-old his life. And the magistrates will decide whether to immediately close the investigation or carry out further investigations on what happened.
