Reports of suspected explosive devices in the waters of the Sarrabus River continue. The latest was this morning off Colostrai Beach, in the Muravera area. This beach is popular with tourists, even during this period.
In an order issued by Mayor Francesca Mattana (following a statement from the Arbatax Maritime District Office), to ensure public safety while awaiting the cleanup by specialists, effective immediately, the mayor has imposed a complete ban on access, transit, parking, permanence, and swimming within a 220-meter radius of the site of the discovery (the southernmost part of Colostrai beach). This ban applies both by sea (navigation, landing, and swimming) and by land (via roads, paths, parking lots, and public or private access points).
The ban will remain in effect until safety measures are completed and the order is officially revoked. The Municipality of Muravera's Technical Services Department is already working to delimit the area.
Two other suspected war devices had been reported in recent weeks in front of the beach of Tziu Franciscu (Costa Rei) and off Capo Ferrato, also in the municipality of Muravera.
