There is growing concern in Oristano about the medical emergency service which works "in fits and starts" . A situation that «must stop. The service is essential and must be ensured continuously . We can't do without it."

Thus the mayor of Oristano, Massimiliano Sanna, who sent a communication to the governor Solinas, the councilor Doria and the general director of the ASL of Oristano Angelo Serusi to request a solution to the problem. The mayor reports that «in recent weeks numerous reports have been received regarding the closure of the emergency medical service. Unfortunately, even in these days the absence of doctors is jeopardizing its opening and this raises particular alarm , even more so at a time when the insufficiency of doctors on duty limits the functionality and efficiency of the health service in the area . The emergency medical service is an essential service to guarantee the health of citizens which a city like Oristano, the provincial capital and point of reference for numerous towns in the surrounding area, cannot do without".

«The topic – continues Sanna – has been at the center of numerous discussions with the General Directorate of the ASL in recent months, precisely in consideration of the importance of the service and the numerous complaints from citizens. Despite the undisputed commitment of the Director General, unfortunately to date the service continues to not be provided with the necessary continuity. As Mayor and health authority of the city, responsible for the public health of citizens, I urge an immediate commitment to the reopening of the Medical Guard also in order to avoid overcrowding in the Emergency Department of the San Martino Hospital".
