The specialized team of the Oristano Coast Guard, under the direct coordination of the Port State Control Unit of the Cagliari Maritime Directorate, stopped a ship flying the Panama flag with 12 people on board .

The merchant ship, which arrived in the port of Oristano with an engine failure, reached the mooring dock in complete safety thanks to the synergistic work of the technical-nautical services (pilots, mooring men and tugs) of the port coordinated by the Maritime Authority.

The men of the Oristano Coast Guard carried out the checks to verify that everything was in order. This was not the case: the non-functioning of one of the engines, the malfunctioning of some rescue and fire prevention equipment as well as, more generally, an inadequate professional preparation in the management of emergencies by the crew were found.

The Coast Guard of Oristano has therefore decided to stop the ship which will be authorized to go back to sea , following a new inspection by the specialized Port State Control team, only once the essential safety conditions on board have been restored .
