A new centenary is being celebrated in Oristano. It is Esterina Caterina Contini, Ester for everyone , who blew out the 100 candles on the cake, surrounded by the affection of her children and grandchildren.

Councilor Maria Bonaria Zedda gave her a commemorative plaque on behalf of the Oristano community .

Born in Oristano on 25 April 1924 , Ester has always lived in Oristano, with a brief parenthesis in Bono immediately after her marriage to Antonio Battelli with whom she had three children: Pierluigi, Gianfranco and Marcella .

The one between Ester and Antonio was the classic love at first sight due to chance: a wrong phone call . During the Second World War, Ester had in fact moved to Cagliari, guest of her uncles who had a very renowned fur shop in the city and Antonio, who was serving in the military at that time, made a mistake in dialing the telephone number, but as chance would have it answer was his future wife. He wanted to meet her and then date her. Then the engagement and marriage, the first year in Bono and then the move to Oristano where they settled definitively and where Antonio worked for a long time at the Registry Office.

A housewife and excellent cook , Ester has always dedicated herself to her family . Knitting is one of her greatest passions: even today, and without the need to wear glasses, she dedicates herself to crochet and knitting .

She is very religious and devoted to Sant'Efisio and frequents the nearby church dedicated to the saint.
