Farewell to the ban on bicycles and scooters in the pedestrian areas of the historic center of Oristano .

Five years after the provision , introduced by the Lutzu administration in light of the numerous complaints of citizens tired of being hostage to unruly cyclists, the Board of Massimiliano Sanna has given the green light to an ordinance that modifies the traffic regulations in the living room good of the city.

Starting from Monday 24 October bikes and scooters will be able to resume circulation in piazza Roma, in vico Umberto I, in via De Castro, in vico Diego Contini, in via Garibaldi (in the stretch between Piazza Roma, via Serneste and vico Garibaldi), in via Parpaglia (between Piazza Roma, via Serneste and via Aquila), in vico Iosto and in piazza Eleonora. The speed limit is set at 6 km / h .

The ban in Corso Umberto remains in force, where the transit of cycles led by minors up to six years of age is allowed, provided they are accompanied by their parents, with the obligation to supervise their conduct.

"The bans, in 2017, had started on an experimental basis - observes the mayor Massimiliano Sanna -. Comparing what happened before and what happened after the introduction of the 2017 ban, we were convinced of the appropriateness of corrective measures, limiting the ban to via Dritta only where it is evident that the free use of bicycles and scooters is not compatible with the 'high presence of pedestrians ”.

The new road signs will be fixed in the next few days.
