They simulated the purchase of two sheep farms , 450 sheep in all, to obtain contributions and bonuses from the European Union .

The scam , worth a total of around 170,000 euros , was discovered by the mobile squad of the Oristano police headquarters, which at the end of investigations lasting over a year reported 6 people , all related to each other and residing in the municipalities of Bauladu, Ollolai and Gavoi .

Investigators were made suspicious by two reports of loss of 330 and 98 sheep and the related company register made after the farmers had undergone veterinary checks by the staff of the ASL Animal Health Complex Structure.

The crimes of fraud , aggravated fraud against the European Union , ideological forgery and material forgery have been contested .
