On November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Sardinia is mobilizing: the voices of athletes and artists
Cagliari and Dinamo players, singers and actresses: all united by a single messageA video to say no to violence against women on the occasion of the world day scheduled for Monday 25 November and to reiterate that there is a help network for those who should live in a situation of grave danger.
There are also the voices of the athletes of Dinamo Sassari, the footballers of Cagliari Nicolas Viola and Alessandro Deiola, the footballers of the rossoblu team and representatives of the world of entertainment such as the Tenores Antoni Milia of Orosei, Marta Proietti Orzella, Ornella D'Agostino. They recall the names of many victims of femicide. Tragedies that have upset the lives of families and small and large communities. The video also reminds us that there is a number to report violence, 1522, the national line that is always active, and that it is possible to use a silent signal for help: "Raise your hand, fold your thumb on your palm and close your fingers over it".
It is an initiative of the Region that promoted the communication and awareness campaign "Fermiano la violenza non restiamo indifferenti" dedicated to the prevention of any form of violence, listening to victims and overcoming discriminatory social norms to promote effective gender equality. "No" to any form of violent or discriminatory behavior, both physical and psychological, in private life as well as in professional life.
In Sardinia, in 2024 there were six victims of femicide. Cases dramatically increased compared to 2023 (two) and 2022 (three). On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Region, with the collaboration of the Acli and many other associations, will give life, on Monday 25 November, to public events in the squares of Cagliari, Quartu, Iglesias, Sassari and Nuoro (on the Sardegna Immigrazione website all the events).
