Olbia will be alongside Alghero and Sassari in the battle for air territorial continuity: the mayor of Olbia Settimo Nizzi opened the traditional year-end press conference on the theme of transport. « It is not possible – he said – that during the summer there are thousands of slots and that in winter we have to go on foot. It is difficult to cross the Tyrrhenian Sea on foot, just as it is by train ». A united battle that of northern Sardinia which Nizzi therefore fully embraces "without detracting from the south of the island".

The vote

And according to tradition , Nizzi was awarded the vote, as always very high, for the past year, promoting himself with a nice 9 to be extended to the Giunta and the City Council . "We have completed some things, we are working on others", he said, citing in particular the hydrogeological risk mitigation plan, the most eagerly awaited intervention of all. On the other hand, the interventions of the maxi ITI project for the redevelopment of the districts of the southern bank of Olbia are proceeding at full speed and the other major redevelopment plans are taking their first steps, such as that of the San Simplicio district, financed with Pinqua funds, and the complex to the north of the city which includes a park and a large sports hall which has obtained funding from the Boschi law.

"We have invested a lot and will invest more in schools and in all the interventions that encourage our children to continue their studies", he continued, then taking stock of the University with the redevelopment of the Expo delivered to the UniOlbia Consortium.

The region

Prompted by reporters' questions, Nizzi denied his interest in a possible candidacy as leader of the Regionals : "I like being mayor of Olbia". He confirmed his political support for the majority that governs the Region and for the governor Solinas: "After the expiry of the mandate, we will see what kind of coalition there will be and if we will all present ourselves together". A majority to which, in any case, he did not give discounts, especially with respect to health care. «The first thing to solve is the shortage of doctors and nurses, today we are in a dramatic situation. We need to start making the ASL work well because people are exasperated ».

The dream in the drawer

And while the mobility plan goes on, the dream to pull out of the drawer remains, which is the demolition of the elevated ones starting from the southern one . "The costs two years ago amounted to 70 million, today they will have increased but it remains our goal," said Nizzi. A complex intervention, with tunnels and alternative roads, which would completely change the skyline of the city.
