The Municipal Council of Olbia declared Augusto Navone out of the municipal assembly recognizing the incompatibility between the position of municipal councilor and that of director of the Protected Marine Area of Tavolara. Navone, a minority leader who was defeated in the last elections won by the mayor Settimo Nizzi, has always contested the objections by deciding not to give up either of his two roles and today did not take part in the session.

The discussion lasted less than an hour. The first to speak was the councilor of Democratic Olbia, Ivana Russu: "Today a very sad page is being written for this city. On behalf of all the councilors, I express solidarity with Augusto Navone. We have decided to be here in the classroom to honor our role. ". In defense of Navone, Gaspare Piccinnu echoed her, who, before his speech, observed a personal minute of silence: "Democracy is dying here in the Council today". Words to which Forza Italia councilor Maria Antonietta Cossu replied: "From a human point of view we are sorry for my colleague Navone, but in our role as city councilors we must enforce the rules".

The vote was given 19 in favor of dismissing Navone and 10 against. So he is no longer a city councilor.
