Start of phase 2 of the conversion works from LPG to methane of the city networks of 12 Sardinian municipalities .

The interventions , by Medea, a company of the Italgas Group and active in the distribution of natural gas on the island, will end in December and will involve over 11,000 customers .

THE CALENDAR – After Buddusò and Sedilo, reached by natural gas at the beginning of the month, the network conversion interventions in the other Municipalities are therefore starting, which will follow the following timetable: Municipality of Simala; August 21-22; Municipality of Siurgus Donigala, 28-30 August; Municipality of Mandas, 4-8 September; Municipality of Valledoria, 11-13 September; Municipality of Santadi, 18-21 September; Municipality of Arbus, 26 September-2 October; Municipality of Terralba, 11-20 October; Municipality of Genoni, 24-25 October; Municipality of Budoni, 11-14 December.

For the city of Olbia, the conversion intervention will be developed in three tranches (corresponding to the macro-areas into which the city network is divided) starting from the end of September . Due to the size of the network and the number of customers served, it will be the largest conversion operation carried out so far in Sardinia and, in this sense, will constitute an operating model for the similar activity which will involve Cagliari, Sassari, Oristano and Nuoro in the coming years.

Here is the calendar of works: Olbia 1 (districts of Cera Sarda, Ospedale, Pedra Niedda, Pintus, Ruinadas, Sa Minda Noa, San Nicola, Tilibbas), start of activities on 25 September and conclusion on 13 October; Olbia 3 (districts of Bandinu, Maria Rocca, Poltu Cuadu, Sa Marinedda, Sacra Famiglia), 16 October - 8 November; Olbia 2 (Centre, Old Town, districts of Baratta, Gregorio, Isticadeddu, Orgosoleddu, San Nicola, San Simplicio, Santa Maria, Santa Mariedda, Tannaule), 13 November - 6 December.

For some municipalities, including the city of Olbia, Medea has decided to postpone the start of the conversions by a few weeks to allow all citizens the time necessary to adapt their systems . Once the conversion is complete, the supply of LPG will be interrupted and the new service with natural gas will only be usable by those who have signed a new supply contract in good time and adapted their internal system.

With the conversion to natural gas, the old gas meter will be replaced with a new generation smart meter , equipped with remote reading and remote management functions, which will guarantee reading of consumption in real time and a more efficient service.
