Numerous inconveniences for businesses and citizensPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
Following the alarm raised over the discovery of waste contaminated with the radioactive isotope Lutetium-177 in unsorted waste sent to Tossilo, a new problem has hit the waste collection system in Nuoro.
The È-Comune company has announced the temporary closure of the Prato Sardo recycling center, located in the city's industrial area, without providing a date for its reopening.
The statement, terse and without further details , was released through official channels: "Due to technical issues, the Prato Sardo recycling center will be closed starting tomorrow until further notice. We will inform you promptly as soon as the facility is able to reopen. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation."
The closure of the recycling center, which primarily serves businesses, artisans, and non-domestic users for the door-to-door collection of bulky waste and non-disposable materials, is already causing significant disruption to the city's manufacturing base. Its location within Nuoro's industrial zone makes its inactivity even more significant .
Some business owners, concerned about the service disruption, contacted È-Comune's information hotline and received this response: "Hello, we currently don't know when the Prato Sardo recycling center will reopen. All non-residential users can temporarily use the Funtana Buddia recycling center."
We'll send you a link with the hours and types of waste that can be disposed of. On site, you'll be asked to complete a self-certification form certifying that the waste originates from Nuoro and that the company is located in Nuoro. The operator will verify the quantity and type of waste and, if everything is in order, will authorize access. The waste must be similar to household waste, excluding hazardous or polluting materials. Full details are provided in the link.
This is a temporary solution, but it doesn't solve the problem for many of the industrial zone's manufacturing facilities, which deliver materials. This closure comes just days after the health alert was issued following the discovery of radioactive waste in the dry area.
