A dramatic turn of events in the first session of the new Nuoro City Council: Mayor Emiliano Fenu has decided not to assign any department to Sinistra Futura for now, temporarily keeping for himself also the delegation to Education and University, along with Budget and Taxes. Not receiving a clear indication from the political force. A choice that immediately sparked political debate and left Gianni Cossu out of the Council, indicated for some time as designated councilor for the school and cultural area.

Cossu was in the chamber until the official communication from the mayor, a sign that the agreement seemed to be done. But surprisingly, Fenu opted for an interim solution, leaving the movement without direct representation in the Council.

Almost complete: here are the nominations

Despite the issue still being open, the government team is starting to take shape.

These are the main delegations already announced.

Natascia Demurtas (PD): Deputy Mayor, with responsibility for Sport, Culture, Tourism and Sports Facilities;

Giuseppe Mercuri (M5S): Urban Planning, SUAPE, Productive Activities, Trade, Crafts and Cemetery;

Marco Canu (United for Fenu): Environment, Heritage and Local Police;

Adriano Catte (Progressives): Social Services;

Giulia Corda (AVS): Public Works and Urban Regeneration;

Mariangela Crabolu (PSI): General Affairs, Territorial and Rural Development and Promotion, Participated Companies, Energy Communities and Digitalisation.

The mayor withheld the delegations for Education, University, Budget and Taxes, making it known that a final decision on the structure of the Council will be made in the coming weeks.

First tensions in the classroom: debts and possible incompatibilities

In addition to the political issue, the inauguration session was also shaken by a technical issue: some elected councilors appear to have certain, liquid and collectible debts with the municipal administration. The municipal secretary communicated this, specifying that these are not generic arrears, but situations that could constitute incompatibility with the office.

The Council has however validated the election of all members, pending the regularization of their position by any interested parties within the terms established by law.
