A " restart after years of suffering from swine fever ": thus the mayor of Seulo , Enrico Murgia , inaugurated the first edition of " Procargius ", an event that "celebrates the traditional activity of pig breeding", explains the first citizen. It is a very heartfelt celebration because "it has been 40 years - he continues - that the pig sector has been particularly affected by African swine fever". The hope, today, is that "this no longer exists in the Sardinian territory".

On the occasion of Procargius, in Seulo, a fire will always remain lit for eleven days , from 8 to 18 December . An experiential gastronomic laboratory is scheduled for the rediscovery of ancient meat processing techniques , in particular that of pigs reared in the wild and beyond . To cook and taste while learning the typical recipes of Seulo, from cured meats to cheeses through culurgionis and other specialties. There will also be the exhibition stands of local artisans , and then the numerous side events, including music, conferences, gastronomic workshops and popular dances. Among the guests also the famous singer of Villacidro, Claudia Aru , who will perform in Seulo on Sunday 11 December.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE – Access to the "Procargius" area takes place by purchasing the entrance ticket, then off to the experiential tour through the exhibition and tasting spaces. All participants are given a tablecloth with a glass, plate and cutlery, then everyone can compose their own snack and possibly cook the meat in the area used for roasts. Two menus to choose from. Among the specialties is roast pork, with all its parts such as “S'idalissu” (black pudding seasoned with salt and pepper), ham, sausage and so on. Under the banner of one of the slogans of the exhibition: “ Nothing is thrown away from the pig ”.
