The mayor of Cagliari Paolo Truzzu recommends, throughout the city, not to use firecrackers, barrels, rockets and pyrotechnic devices in general, "to protect the safety and health of people and pets" and announces safety measures urban areas strengthened, from the center to the Fair, on the occasion of New Year's Eve 2024.

For New Year's Eve there will also be a crackdown on alcohol, with an ordinance, which provides that, from 6pm on 31 December to 6am on 1 January 2024, from Viale Trieste to Via Ospedale, from Via Santa Margherita to Via Roma, passing through the Bastione di Saint Remy, to the Public Gardens and up to the Lungomare New York 11 September 2011, in addition to the area pertaining to the Fair and in the surrounding areas of Viale Diaz, Via Pessagno, Via degli Sport and in Piazza Marco Polo, a ban on introducing, detain, deposit glass or metal containers on the ground.

For merchants, the sale for takeaway or transfer of any kind of drinks in glass or metal containers, even from vending machines, will be prohibited. Furthermore, the owners of these businesses will have to "keep the empty glass and metal containers, avoiding their display and easy removal".
