The alarm was raised at 2:00 pm yesterday afternoon: the operations room of the Port Authority of Oristano received a request for help from a couple of Dutch citizens, who reported that they had run aground with their vessel - a 15-meter long sailboat - on the sandy seabed in front of Is Arenas, in Narbolia. The Coast Guard of Oristano intervened, with the patrol boat CP 2101 and the inflatable boat GC B171.

The personnel, arriving on site, verified the good health of the Dutch couple and the integrity of the vessel, still stuck on the seabed. After having warned the captain, the shipping company and the company that owned the vessel – pursuant to Law 979 of 1982 “Framework law on the defense of the sea” – to implement all necessary measures to prevent and avoid any form of damage to the environment, the vessel was refloated by a suitable naval unit belonging to a specialized company from Oristano .

The sailboat was then able to resume its navigation towards the tourist port of Bosa Marina, where it arrived around 7 pm . The two occupants did not require medical attention, even though they were visibly shaken by what had happened .
