Today at 6pm the Thanksgiving Festival will be celebrated in the church of Santa Barbara in Sinnai with farmers and shepherds taking the lead in donating products from the land which will be brought directly to the altar.
All this in an atmosphere of celebration and faith, with the solemn mass that will be celebrated by the new parish priest, Father Balu , also in memory of the farmers and shepherds who are no longer with us.
During the mass, the people of the countryside will bring typical local products to the altar: wine, oil, honey, fruit, and suckling pig.
"The good products of the earth," Father Balu wrote today in the parish leaflet, "are not only the result of human labor, but also a testimony to God's mercy, providence, and faithfulness . We can sow and irrigate the soil, but it is God who makes the harvest grow and multiply." And, again, "today we will pray for our land, for our farmers and shepherds, for all those who work in the sector. May God continue to preserve the fertility of our soil, to protect," Father Balu added, "our crops."
Tonight is the 76th Thanksgiving Day in Sinnai.
