December 31st is approaching in Sassari, and with it the performance of the artist who will usher in the new year. The most likely candidate is Zucchero "Sugar" Fornaciari, whose potential performance has already sparked controversy in the city due to the cost of the event.

Meanwhile, in recent days, the Municipality's General Affairs and Contracts sector has awarded, as reported in the resolution, "the contract for the service called 'live artistic performance by the singer Zucchero and the band for New Year's Eve 2027' to Gian Production Srl for a contractual value of €696,390,000."

The city council has already approved several budget changes aimed at booking the artist and making the Emilian singer-songwriter's event possible. It's currently difficult to estimate the overall cost of the potential performance, which is expected to exceed at least one million euros, as was the case with Max Pezzali, the star of the 2026 New Year's Eve concert.

The resources being allocated by the Sardinia Region and the Department of Tourism, through the call for proposals for New Year's Eve 2026, will be crucial. €3.8 million will be allocated to events on the island, of which Sassari hopes to capture a significant portion. The latest news on the matter reported negotiations between the Municipality and the artist to iron out some details.
