It was April 1, 2021 when Mario Sedda's body was found hidden among the bushes of the gardens of via Sassari, at the entrance to the city of Porto Torres . The autopsy revealed that the tip of a broken ceramic knife blade was stuck in the victim's face.
Four years have passed since then and the murderer still has no name, no guilty party to prosecute. Tomorrow, Tuesday 1 April, is the anniversary, a date that reawakens the pain of the family, of the sister Eleonora who continues to cry out for justice and truth. "If there is no justice in one place, it is a threat in one place only," she repeats. Only a month ago she said she did not want to wait until 4 years have passed since her brother's murder.
"We're almost there, the dates are numbers, time is so much, too much," he comments, "but I continue to have that little bit of hope, of trust, of respect for the institutions that are dealing with the case, I continue to trust in my fellow citizens, in those who know and don't speak, I continue to believe in some awareness from the people who know." And again: "The most atrocious thing is that Mario has already forgiven you, but I want to look you in the eye and ask you why?"
In January 2024, over a year ago, there was a new wave of searches: three young people from Porto Torres, a 35-year-old, a 33-year-old and a 19-year-old, a minor at the time of the events, were investigated and subjected to a house search. Various people were questioned.
All three were charged with causing Mario Sedda's death by "hitting and wounding him with a cutting weapon." Some electronic equipment was also seized. Two other local people had previously been placed under investigation. However, the turning point never came.
