The search for the hammer that Igor Sollai allegedly used to kill his wife Francesca Deidda on May 10th began this morning and is still ongoing, by the Carabinieri divers and the Cagliari RIS. The search is taking place in the waters under the Scafa bridge. The forty-three-year-old is currently in prison on charges of aggravated premeditated voluntary homicide and concealment of a corpse.

It was Sollai, after confessing to the murder in the last interrogations before the prosecutor in prison, who indicated where he threw the murder weapon . The woman's remains were found on July 18 in a bag in the countryside between Sinnai and San Vito, near the old state road 125, more than two months after the events allegedly occurred, on May 10 at home in San Sperate.

Now the military of the Arma are going inch by inch through the stretch of sea near the Scafa bridge, along the state road 195 to Capoterra. The underwater operations are conducted with the help of specialized instruments, to guarantee an accurate inspection of the area and increase the possibility of finding elements useful for the investigation. In the last two interrogations Igor Sollai declared that he had thrown both the hammer and his wife's cell phone in that very spot . The forty-three-year-old had described the murder weapon to the prosecutor, also recognizing it in some photos.
