It was due to reopen on Friday 30 May, but the opening of the Arexini' tunnel on the 125 Var "Orientale Sarda" state road, in the municipality of Muravera, has been postponed for another 15 days .

"The works - according to what Anas reports - are now at an advanced stage and could be concluded, at least as far as the works subject to road traffic are concerned, by the first half of next month. Tests on the systems and other residual interventions that will not affect the tunnel's passability will still have to be completed".

The project, worth 12 million euros, began on 13 January to allow for the construction of the new LED lighting system , lighting devices and the installation of new fire prevention and ventilation systems and, therefore, to guarantee greater safety in the tunnel which had been reopened to traffic during the Easter holidays and the bank holidays of 25 April and 1 May.

Last Wednesday, May 7, it was closed again to start the last phase of the works with the prohibition of traffic in both directions. Now, however, we will have to wait a little longer to see the flow of vehicles pass through the tunnel again.

Traffic in the direction of Tortolì is diverted onto the former state road 125 at the junction at km 39.300 towards Muravera and then enter the ring road (via Sarrabus), continue on the municipal road and re-enter the state road 125 Var using the junction at km 47.

The one heading to Cagliari is instead diverted at km 47, still towards Muravera on the former state road 125 , continue along the municipal road until returning to the state road 125 Var at the junction at km 39.300.
