Countdown to Capoterra, where on Sunday 24 and Monday 25 October citizens will be called to the polls again to choose the new mayor.

To challenge each other in the ballot Beniamino Piga (supported by six civic lists of the center-left area) and Beniamino Garau (Lega, Psd'Az, Sardegna 2020 plus two civic lists).

Piga starts from 40.64% collected in the first round and has the support of the outgoing mayor Francesco Dessì, still the most voted result in the first round. In these hours, the endorsement of the group of Progressives in the regional council has also arrived who, through the group leader Francesco Agus, have asked for unity from the center-left voters in favor of Piga.

Garau instead comes from a 28.87%, but will be able to count on a part of the 17.75% brought home by the other center-right candidate in the first round, Gianluigi Marras, who however communicated that he had decided not to personally support anyone at the ballot.

In the first round between Piga and Garau the difference was 1,312 votes. Decisive could therefore be the abstentions in the first round, who could instead go to the polling stations for the play-off.

Two weeks ago the turnout was 55.9%.
