After a robbery that ended in gunshots in the Mulinu Becciu district of Cagliari, he had taken refuge in a luxurious hotel in Madrid , where he also often received his fiancée.

Yesterday the Spanish police arrested him on the indication of the Cagliari police, he is a 30-year-old American who has long been resident in the Sardinian capital .

The coup dates back to May 2021: during the robbery, a man was shot and wounded and three kilos of cocaine and 30,000 euros in cash were stolen from him.

The investigations to track him down and capture him, conducted by the Cagliari mobile team coordinated by Fabrizio Mustaro, intensified last May when there were 27 arrests between Cagliari, Sassari and Nuoro for criminal association aimed at drug dealing .

Precisely during those investigations, the investigators shed light on the robbery in via Barracca Manna , at the end of which three people escaped with drugs and money. One was the thirty-year-old American arrested yesterday.

Following the movements of his girlfriend, who had joined him for a few days, the agents managed to track down the fugitive. Both were in possession of fake Spanish documents, they were stopped yesterday at noon as they left the hotel .

«To proceed with the arrest, the Fugitive Active Search Team of the International Police Cooperation Service of the Ministry of the Interior was activated - they explain from the Cagliari Police Headquarters - which reported the presence of the wanted person to the national police in Madrid. The Madrid Fast team that intervened is part of the Enfast (European network of Fugitives active search teams) which is an informal operational network for the search and capture of dangerous fugitives, among EU countries plus other non-EU partners, such as the UK, the USA, the Balkan countries".

In the next few days the arrested person will be handed over by the Spanish authorities to men from the international police cooperation service of the Ministry of the Interior and will be taken to prison in Italy .
