He risked suffocating to death due to a bite that went sideways during lunch: a fifty-year-old from Barrali was saved yesterday afternoon in Donori thanks to the providential intervention of the carabinieri and a passing nurse, who performed CPR while waiting of the arrival of 118.

A story with a happy ending, told by Mayor Maurizio Meloni, who mentions the names and surnames of the protagonists and thanks them one by one.

Panic broke out in via Brigata Sassari during the meal, due to a bolus that caused the respiratory crisis. The 50-year-old was carried outside by one of the luncheon guests. On the street, the encounter with a patrol of the town's carabinieri. The military "immediately coordinated the rescue by alerting 118, and considering the seriousness of the situation, also the air ambulance", explains the mayor.

«In the meantime», Meloni continues, «Brigadier Nicola Battaglia asked for the intervention of Mrs. Rossella Deiana, who works as a nurse, who, having assessed the situation of cyanosis and lack of pulse, not being able to carry out the procedure personally cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, coordinated the operations with the support of her husband Maurizio Orrù, the commander of the carabinieri station Andrea Roselli, Brigadier Battaglia, Samuele Spada, who alternated for a long time in the cardiac message.

In the meantime, there was also the road system to manage, with traffic slowed down due to the onlookers: the officer Geremia Galasso took care of it, who also provided «contacts with the medicalized emergency vehicles which, when they arrived, found the vigilant man who breathed autonomously», underlines the mayor, who concludes: «Thank you very much to everyone, for saving a human life».
