Mourning in Osini, Don Mario Piras died: he was 94 years old

Mourning in the diocese of Lanusei : Don Mario Piras has died . He was 94 years old.

Born in Osini on 15 August 1928, Don Mario was ordained a priest on 17 July 1955. Following his ordination he was a professor in the seminary and festive assistant pastor in Jerzu, in the five-year period between 1955 and 1960. He was subsequently assistant pastor of Seui from 1961 to 1962. From 1962 to 30 October 1968 assistant pastor of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Maddalena in Lanusei and between 1968 and 1980 he led the parish of San Gavino Martire in Elini.

From 1 July 1980 to 28 November 1993 he was parish priest of Sant'Antioco Martire in Ulassai and from 6 December 1984 to 10 August 1991 parish administrator of Santa Susanna, in his Osini. From 29 November 1993 to 21 September 2012 parish priest in Sant'Erasmo (Jerzu).

Since 2012 he had retired from active ministry, living in Osini.

The funeral will be celebrated tomorrow at 3 pm in the church of Santa Susanna, in Osini.
