A small mouflon, just a few days old, was rescued yesterday morning in the area of the former Ussassai railway station. The puppy was found by a couple of hikers who alerted the Osini forestry station.

The patrol identified the mouflon along the railway, and the foresters immediately searched the area to track down the mother and check that she had not been caught by some illegal snare or that she had remained entangled in some net. The checks were negative.

The puppy had no injuries but was visibly malnourished and was delivered to the veterinary facility affiliated with the local Province for the necessary investigations. Veterinarian Angela Scattu, after visiting the animal, confirmed the absence of injuries and underlined the importance of finding the mother to release the little one into freedom.
