A rare and emotional event at the Duilio Casula Polyclinic in Monserrato, where triplets were born: Mattia, Aurora, and Sofia.

The mother, Alessia Ferrau, 38, underwent a cesarean section supervised by a multidisciplinary team that ensured the safe birth.

The babies, the result of a natural pregnancy, are doing well and are now in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Policlinico Hospital, where they will remain for a few days before being able to return home with their mother, their father Fabio Brau, 40, and their older sister.

The pregnancy was monitored by the Obstetric and Gynecological Emergency Specialists at the University Hospital of Cagliari, gynecologist Alessandra Meloni and Dr. Alessia Atzei, under the direction of Dr. Bruno Piras. Dr. Meloni herself led the procedure, supported by a team of obstetricians, anesthetists, and neonatologists, with the support of the ARNAS Brotzu Transfusion Center for managing the risk of bleeding.

"It was a true team effort that ensured the health of the mother and three newborns," emphasized Dr. Piras, director of Obstetric and Gynecological Emergencies at the Polyclinic. "The AOU of Cagliari once again confirms its position as a point of reference for maternal and child health."

Amid the joy of the family and the satisfaction of the healthcare workers, the triplet birth was welcomed as an extraordinary event, a symbol – as Piras himself recalled – "of life, hope, and wonder."
