Eight months . This is the sentence requested today in the Nuoro court by the deputy prosecutor Ilaria Bradamante for Emanuele Carta, Antonio Carta, Domenico Carta and Silvio Goddi , shepherds accused of blocking the road during the milk protest on the 131 dcn state road at the Lula crossroads on 13 February 2019.

Thousands of people gathered to protest for a fairer price for milk.

Two of the three defendants in the courtroom read a sheet of paper during their spontaneous declarations: " We are not outlaws or troublemakers, but fathers of families ."

For the prosecution the four "with bins and not with their own bodies for about half an hour made a blockade that created inconvenience, the parallel streets were free but not known".

The defence, represented by lawyers Giulia Lai, Adriano Sollai, Marcella Cabras, Michele Zuddas and Giuseppe Talanas, asked for acquittal: «There was no blockade, and they were convinced that they were exercising their legitimate right peacefully , and that symbolic act it was important. The bins were used to pour the milk, then they were removed from the roadway and the parallel roads were free. Exceptional circumstances have arisen, even Minister Salvini had said that he would also come to Sardinia, as happened ».
