The Carabinieri of the NAS of Cagliari carried out a health and hygiene inspection at a restaurant in Fluminimaggiore , decreeing its suspension after having identified a series of irregularities.
The inspection, carried out in the run-up to the opening to the public, led to the immediate halt to the preparation and serving of food and beverages, following the confirmed use of water from the municipal water supply, which was declared undrinkable by a mayoral order issued on August 12th, as it contained lead levels exceeding the limits permitted by current legislation.
During the inspection, other "serious violations" were also discovered: the officers found appalling sanitary conditions, documented by the discovery of a decomposing rodent carcass in the restaurant's kitchen. They also found that the forms required by the self-monitoring manual had not been completed, including those regarding refrigerator temperature monitoring and pest control.
Administrative fines totaling €3,000 were imposed for the violations found . The health authority has been informed and further investigations are underway.
