The three alleged perpetrators of 27 thefts committed against commercial businesses and credit institutions have been arrested.
This was decided by an order of the Sassari court, at the request of the public prosecutor .
The suspects were arrested in July in Sassari, stopped by the Carabinieri of the Operational Section of the capital of Sassari, thanks to the collaboration with the military of the Provincial Command of Cagliari, as they were suspected of having committed two thefts against a couple of commercial establishments in the Cagliari area .
After investigations, however, it was discovered that 27 robberies were carried out, perpetrated in numerous municipalities in the provinces of Cagliari and Sassari , in the period between March 2024 and January 2025, always using the break-in method.
Specifically, the trio is accused of being responsible for the wave of thefts committed in succession from March 18, 2024, to January 25, 2025 , also targeting well-known commercial establishments such as the "Tuttigiorni" supermarket stores in Sassari and Cagliari and the "Apple" store in Sassari, as well as attempting to attack the Banco di Sardegna branches in Trinità D'Agultu, Tissi, and Uri.
The modus operandi was always similar and involved scouting locations with rented cars. The three would then swing into action with a stolen Alfa Romeo, along with vans or trucks used as battering rams to smash the windows. Then, using thick ropes, the criminals would uproot the safes and flee.
The thefts are estimated to have earned the alleged thieves approximately 330 thousand euros.
