A 67-year-old woman from a village in the Barigadu area has tested positive for West Nile virus . This is the twelfth human case of West Nile virus diagnosed in 2025 in the province of Oristano and Sardinia.
The woman is hospitalized at San Francesco Hospital in Nuoro and her health is improving.
Following the investigation, the Department of Hygiene and Health Prevention, headed by Maria Valentina Marras, immediately implemented all the measures required for the case: an epidemiological investigation and the cordoning off of the woman's home to allow for more thorough disinfection within a 200-meter radius of her home.
