“Dear Santa Claus, this year I ask you to give a new heart to politicians who, while knowing perfectly what we need for the Pediatric Oncohematology Department and for the Transplant Center, have not yet done anything to solve all the problems they created themselves”.

Thus begins the "letter" written by a child, among many, who are hospitalized in via Jenner, in Cagliari . The real author is Francesca Ziccheddu, spokesperson for Asgop, the association of parents in pediatric oncohematology. A "missive" virtually intended for those who should bring the gifts, but in reality addressed to those who make decisions on the health of the Sardinians.

In recent days, Ziccheddu was heard in the prosecutor's office by the Nas carabinieri and by the prosecutor Andrea Vacca, who are conducting the investigation into the alleged treatments denied to young patients. The file is open and the investigators want to see clearly.

And the child asks for "a new heart, which starts beating again in unison with our right to be treated in the best possible way even here in Sardinia, with our concern to respect the therapy protocols, with our hope that everything will go smoothly until healing so that we don't find ourselves forced to leave to be able to heal ourselves".

Bring them a heart and a conscience, he adds, turning again to "Santa Claus", "so that they don't look for culprits and punishments where they themselves are responsible for their inability to listen, analyze and make decisions".

Then a thank you "to all the doctors, nurses and health workers who with their absolute dedication are filling an organizational void by sacrificing themselves beyond all limits"

What is being fought for Microcitemico is "a battle that we continue to carry on alone, because apparently the ability to make synthesis has been lost, the will to find the balance between different, legitimate needs: between guaranteeing treatment for small patients of Oncohaematology and Transplant Center and the requests of other subjects within the Microcitemico hospital. Go to everyone and bring them some of our courage who need it”.
