Fulvio Baule, the 40-year-old from Ploaghe who killed his ex-father-in-law with axes and seriously injured his ex-mother-in-law and ex-wife on Saturday evening remains in the prison of Bancali.

This morning he was questioned by the investigating judge of the Sassari court who rejected the request of his defense lawyer, Nicola Lucchi, who had asked for house arrest for his client.

The confessed offender - accused of aggravated murder and double attempted murder - recounted some fragments of the massacre: he remembers hitting Basilio Saladdino, a 75-year-old retired policeman, at the height of a dispute. Then the dark. He has no memory of even lashing out at the two women.

Listened to on videoconference from prison, he explained that relations between his family and that of his ex-wife were very tense. In particular among the consu-in-laws: at the baptism of the children, two one-year-old twins, there was almost a fight.

On Saturday evening, when he arrived in Porto Torres to bring the children back to their mother, he reported that he had been verbally assaulted by her because she was late. A quarrel arose, the father-in-law joined them and the two hit each other. Baule then grabbed the hatchet he was holding in the car and shot him dead.

"I will ask for the probative incident to obtain a psychiatric report of my client", declared the lawyer Lucchi.

And while Baule remains in his cell, the lives of Ilaria Saladdino, 39, and Caterina Mancusa, 70, hang a thread. Both are hospitalized in intensive care. In the next few hours they could be awakened from the pharmacological coma.
