Those traces of blood on the window were almost the signature of the thief who in August 2021 had carried out a robbery in Marrubiu. Two years later, thanks to scientific investigations and comparison with the national DNA database, the carabinieri managed to identify the person responsible for the theft in the house in the countryside in the Masongiu area.

In August 2021, the owner of the house discovered that he had had unwelcome visits: someone had broken into his house by breaking a glass in the French window and then fled with a loot of 10 thousand euros between cash and gold items. The man had immediately reported the episode to the carabinieri who, during the inspection, had noticed traces of blood on a glass fragment of the French window and on the curtain. The traces, which could probably have belonged to the thieves, had been found and (with the authorization of the Public Prosecutor's Office) sent to the biology section of the RIS in Cagliari.

From the biomolecular investigations, a genotypic profile was extracted which was attributable, for all the findings acquired, to the same "unknown female subject", immediately entered into the national DNA database. The Central Directorate of the Criminal Police of the Ministry of the Interior had verified that the profile matched that of a Roma woman (already present in the database) residing in Sardinia and already known to the police for similar crimes. At that point the woman was framed.
