The orders of the Cagliari Review Court which had released the brothers of Sandro Arzu, who committed suicide in prison, Roberto (57 years old) and Sergio (65), as well as the latter's son, Gianluca (26), have been annulled in Rome.

The Court of Cassation has accepted three of the four appeals presented by the public prosecutor Danilo Tronci against the decision of the Court of Liberty which had annulled the precautionary custody orders in prison in the context of the investigation into the murder of Beniamino Marongiu .

The Supreme Court, however, declared the appeal against Pier Giorgio Piras (36) inadmissible.

The four, all from Arzana, are accused of having colluded with Sandro Arzu, considered the perpetrator of the crime by the Cagliari prosecutor's office.
Yesterday, the lawyers of the four defendants—Francesco Marongiu and Rita Dedola for Roberto and Sergio, Pierluigi Concas for Gianluca, and the couple Pamela Piras and Fabrizio De Murtas for Pier Giorgio Piras—flew to Rome to discuss the appeal.
The four were arrested on May 26th on suspicion of aiding and abetting the murder of Mino Marongiu. According to the Cagliari Anti-Mafia District Directorate, the murder was linked to drug trafficking, although the suspects are not charged.
A new hearing will be scheduled for Roberto, Sergio, and Gianluca Arzu to evaluate the appeals their lawyers filed against the pre-trial detention order.
