A patient of Maracalagonis, Fabiano, bedridden since 2001, when he suffered irreparable neurological damage due to an aneurysm, has been waiting for two months for supplies of medical aids for incontinence, cloths and underpads , which the ASL must send to patient's home on a quarterly basis. And his wife, Daniela, who assists him, "can't take it anymore".

The complaint comes from Desirè Manca, regional councilor of the 5 Star Movement , who in a note points the finger at the regional health service which "does not allow Fabiano to have a dignified life without the family taking charge of it".
«The story of this family, unfortunately, does not differ from that of many others in which a family member needs cloths and sleepers, and home care», adds Manca. « Stories of daily difficulties that the Region of Sardinia does not seem to want to see, does not want to look at. The stagnation in the resolution of problems that could be solved, if only there was the political will to do so, is devastating».
In recent days, the pentastellata exponent has already presented a question to President Solinas and the councilor for Health Doria to ask that the delivery service of absorbent aids for incontinents be carried out without causing damage to the sick and their families.
“Sardinian patients – he continues – are left to their own devices. In addition to the lack of cloths and underpads, Daniela says that whenever her partner has to undergo urgent visits, they are forced to go to private doctors' offices, since it is not possible to make an appointment in the Cagliari area in the public service. Even the physiatrist visit to be able to do physiotherapy, says Daniela, is a mirage, and even that they are forced to do it privately for a fee ».

"These - concludes Manca - are real, catastrophic conditions in which the regional health service finds itself and in which many families are forced to live".
