It was not a cellar or a tool shed: underground, well hidden from view and practically invisible from the outside, in what must have been a large water storage facility was concealed an underground structure used for the cultivation of drugs.

A clandestine plant complete with artificial lighting active 24 hours a day with an irrigation system.

The carabinieri of Ottana and Gavoi discovered the unsuspected structure , at the end of an investigation that led to the arrest of two people: a father and son, farmers aged 55 and 19, from Gavoi.

The operation concluded on Wednesday with the seizure of the indoor plantation, set up and evidently to guarantee a constant production of the narcotic substance throughout the year away from prying eyes and cameras from above. It is not a large seizure in terms of quantity, but the plant was perfectly functional and able to support continuous activity.

The two arrested will appear this morning before the preliminary investigations judge Giovanni Angelicchio for preliminary hearings .
