Sardinia has not met the targets for mandatory vaccinations . Indeed, according to data from the Gimbe Foundation, for three cases analyzed the percentage of vaccinations also decreased in 2021 compared to 2019 and 2020, years in which the national and regional health service had to deal with the Covid-19.

In the report, which gives the idea of a situation of potential risk but at the same time underlines how the prevention system has withstood the pandemic, ten compulsory vaccinations are considered divided into formulations : 6 included in the hexavalent vaccine (anti-polio, anti-diphtheria, anti-tetanus, anti-pertussis, anti-hepatitis B, anti-Haemophilus influenzae type b), three in the trivalent vaccine (anti-measles, anti-rubella, anti-mumps), in addition to anti-chicken pox.

For anti-polio (representative indicator for hexavalent and whose recommended target is ≥95%) they reached 95.21% in 2019 and then rose slightly to 95.48% in 2020 and dropped to 91.88% in 2021 (below the recommended target); anti-measles (representative indicator for the trivalent and whose recommended target is ≥95%) reached 93.61% in 2019 to then rise slightly to 93.99% in 2020 and fall to 91.88% in 2021 (below the target recommended); ( recommended target ≥95%) reached 89.35% in 2019 and then rose to 91.59% in 2020 and dropped to 91.02% in 2021 (below the recommended target).

Coverage for recommended pneumococcal vaccinations (recommended target ≥95%) reached 93.57% in 2019 and then rose to 94.37% in 2020 and fell to 89.77% in 2021 (below the target recommended); anti-rotavirus reached 35.93% in 2019 and then rose to 79.19% in 2020 (recommended target ≥95%) and dropped to 75.2% in 2021 (below the recommended target ≥95%); anti-meningococcal disease B (recommended target ≥95%) reached 68.09% in 2019 and then rose to 79.15% in 2020 and dropped to 74.27% in 2021 (below the recommended target).
